Rishi Sunak was born on 12 May 1980 in Southampton, England. He is an Indian-born British politician and businessman, serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since October 2022. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond (York) since 2015.
Sunak's family is Punjabi Hindu. Her father, Yashvir Sunak, was a general practitioner and her mother, Usha Sunak, was a pharmacist. He has an elder brother and a younger sister.
Sunak did his schooling at a local school in Southampton. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. After graduation, Sunak attended Harvard Business School and received an MBA from there.
Sunak began his career as a banker at Goldman Sachs. He later joined the founding of Prince Albert, an investment company. Sunak married Akshata Murthy, daughter of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, in 2009. They has two children.
Sunak was first elected to parliament in 2015. He was appointed as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury. He took over as Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2020. As Chancellor, Sunak took a number of measures to deal with the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. He launched a scheme to give financial assistance to people during the pandemic and he provided subsidies to businesses to save them from closure.
Sunak became leader of the Conservative Party after Boris Johnson's resignation in 2022. He took over as Prime Minister in October 2022. As prime minister, Sunak faces a number of challenges such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, inflation and the energy crisis.
Sunak is a rising politician and is seen as a potential leader for Britain's future. He is an accomplished economist and has achieved many successes in his career. Sunak is a young, energetic and compassionate man and is being seen as a good leader for the people of the UK.
